Shooting In My Little City,Self Defense Or Murder? (video)

KFDM Channel 6 :: News - Top Stories - Murder or self defense?

This occurred the other day about 3 miles from my home. I read today that the stepson claims he was in fear for his life. Local news claims a murder warrant has been issued. Our police chief gives his perspective in the video. Strange how fast things can go wrong.

    Not enough information.

You shoot until the threat stops. He fired an AR15 5 times. I wonder how many times he shot him after the threat stopped.
Was the step father armed or not?

At least they didn't use the word "machine gun" in the story.

The grand jury should have all the facts to help them decide.

I believe 2 shots hit the man, if another report got it right.

If by "all the facts," you mean only the DA's theory of the case. I believe that is how grand juries work, if I am not mistaken.

    Mothers statement:
Bonnie Jean Allen, who is the Defendant's mother, told Officers the conversation took place at her residence and she heard them arguing and she heard the Defendant tell Rodger he would meet him at the Super Star Store on South Main Street.
    Sons (defendants) statement:
The Defendant denied going to the Super Star Store to meet Rodger Allen and said he was just stopping there to get a Dr. Pepper. The Defendant told Ranger Smith he had spoken on the phone with Rodger Allen about 20 minutes before the incident occurred at the Super Star Store. The Defendant told Ranger Smith he told Rodger Allen to leave his family alone and to quit threatening to kill them and he did not make arrangements to meet Rodger Allen at the Super Star Store.
Could this have been a reason the D.A. is convening a Grand Jury?

Could it be that the father in-law saw his son in-law pointing the rifle at him and decided to try and defend himself with his vehicle?

Too many things unexplained in the article to draw anything but hypothetical senerios.

According to older news reports, the truck was rammed first, the stepson was still in his truck. It is estimated that the the stepfather drove into the other truck between 60-80 m.p.h.,on purpose. This is a two lane road and the store is situated on a curve. I doubt if anyone could see a vehicle coming at that speed.

Lets see, there is bad blood, stepfather has made "Terroristic threats" to kill him, wonder if a complaint was ever filed. Then the stepson gets rammed by the ex-stepfather at a speed I would consider to be attempted murder, then the attacker gets out and approaches the stepson and gets shot.IMHO they are wasting taxpayers money,If I was on a jury I would rule Justifiable homicide
