The Flash Mob Attack - How To Defend?
Avoid if you can. If you are standing around and see a group of twenty young urban thugs about two blocks away
yelling, "kill whitey", and looking at your reflection in the store window,
realize that you have not been in the sun in a while, here is my advice - "RUN".
I am not sure if I agree with all his thinking but you have to give it some thought

for many of the inner-city peoples its a game to walk out in traffic and force people to stop. than they stare at ua as they saunter by. just to prove they have the power. or its cause they feel powerless that they find a way to exercise control over those who they percieve as their oppressors. actually we, the tax payer, are more akin to thier providers but that is not how they see the situation.
many years ago, my '76 Monte had triple horns; i had ordered it custom and paid for duel horns (350-4bbl and swival bucket seats
)-- not knowing that they would add 2 more...it sounded like a 3 axle when i laid on it.
which i would do just to see people scattter looking for "that truck, man".
or id make like i was looking at something on the front seat and them seeing that i was not seeing them---it is amazing how fast people can move at the last instant!!
time passes and my i have a loaner and darned if 'they' ain't walkin in my way...
i reasoned that my big green old car was known and avoided; many of em may not of made it past 10th grade but that don't mean they are not too stupid to learn somethings.
though the Monte passed away in '05 (getting 8 mpg)and i retired not long after ( getting not much more)...some aspects of my old job i kinda miss...
-------------
flash mobs are small scale in my area, one last night in Vernon Vernon stabbing victim strapped to hood of police cruiser - WFSB Channel 3
so methinks i don't miss it all that much
as i've noticed about others--that they do not always do as i think they will nor often as they say they will.
this not only makes life interesting, it makes it dangerous too.

Video footage of an incident like this is priceless and could literally save you thousands of dollars in court or jail time. YMMV, but I'm keeping the record button near!

the pistol will be brought out and "placed" on my dashboard, for all the knuckledraggers to see.

I agree. It could also backfire on you and "escalate" the situation. If you brandished your firearm, you run the possibility of getting into a gunfight while you're a sitting duck inside your car. (Sure you may not see any of the punks with weapons. But, that doesn't mean they don't have them.)
Distance is your BEST friend in a situation like this (not a gun); AND your automobile is the absolute best way to quickly create distance.

just an FYI for those of you that use an Iphone if you update it through ITunes it will change the face of the phone to include your camera icon to the face so it is always available and if you have a 3GS or better you have video capability

Of course not, I was merely stating that if they were to proceed forward running into the individuals then (according to the officer I talked with) it would be considered assault & I presume a car would be considered a deadly weapon...

I would try to use my car and slowly 'push' through. But if a large enough rock breaks through a window, and I cannot exit quickly enough, I consider that a threat to my life, my wife's life, and my 9 year old daughters life. I'll do what I have to do to keep them safe and hope it gets sorted out later.

When you talked with that officer... What was his solution to being swarmed by a mob and threatened while inside your car. Rocks flying at you and the possibility of being dragged out?

I'm dialing 911 telling them on the phone I'm being attacked by a mob and threatened then honking horn telling them to get away from the vehicle while still on the phone, if that doesn't work I'm treating to drive over and shoot them so it's all recorded for future use if needed

Seems I was somewhat a psychic... What should appear in the state capital's paper, but this little gem:
Juvenile horde allegedly attacks, robs couple leaving Des Moines McDonald’s
Now, in this case, I wouldn't have gone for the gun... I think there might have been a few new, but temporary, speed bumps in Mickey Dees driveway... once the rocks came out... I'da just gotten into the car... and pressed the go pedal...
Agree on the 'go petal'. That is why I drive a 10,000 pound truck as my get around town vehicle.

I am remided of an event that happend many years ago, actually in 1975 in my hometown of Huntington, WV
A local lad, Harry,a black kid, ripped off some good ole' boys from out Wayne, WV during a drug deal. Sold them stuff they thought was Marijuana that turned out not to be.
So, the good ole' boys made the journey from their turf for a little pay-back and shot the kid dead. Of course they being white and the kid black, the howling of racism was immediate. Crowds of people came out on the streets, in protest. The kid was touted as a nice, church going boy who would never do anything like that (turned out later not to be so). The good ole Wayne boys were likend to the K.K.K.
An acquaintence of mine (white guy) was going through the area just after the crowds came out. He was driving a 1974 Mustang and caught a red light. Immediately, a group of "youths" came out and hopped on the hood of the Mustang and said they weren't moving in protest of the killing. The driver had no idea what was happening. He had been out of town and was headed home.
He rolled down the window and asked them nicely to move. They responded with racial names and threats. He replied that when the light changed to green, he was dumping the clutch and they would be at the mercy of his 3,000+ machine. They remained on the car hood, and when the light went green, he did exactly as he told them.
He said they scattered like leaves and he just floored it, kept moving and didn't look back. Law Enforcement caught the two Wayne boys and they were eventually convicted of murder. Harry was practically a saint after that.
It just goes to show how a mob can just appear and how you can be caught unaware of why.
