Conway 14-year-old uses shotgun to scare off armed intruders

Quick News Viedo at the link below.

CONWAY – A teenager is being called a hero by the family he protected from armed intruders early Monday morning.

Brady, 14, is a trained trap shooter who used his own shotgun to intimidate two black males who he says broke into his family's house just after midnight Monday morning.

"They both had silver revolvers pointed at me, and we just kind of pointed at each other for like three seconds and then I yelled, ‘Hey!'" said Brady, "And they and they took off running."
Nothing has been reported stolen from their house.

The full names of Brady's family are being concealed for safety purposes.

Less than 24 hours after the incident, Brady says he is slightly shaken up although he kept his cool during the tense few moments.

"It's pretty scary to be like looking death in the face and you realize how vulnerable you are all the time," he said.

His proud mother says while he is definitely young he's already shown more courage than most grown men.

"You always tell your kids don't touch guns, you know, they could hurt someone," said Angela," but if you actually teach your kids good gun safety to begin with, and they grow up around guns or grow up knowing how to use them they could save your life."

Brady has been training with guns since he was 5 and has been practicing with his own shotgun for two months.

GREAT STORY! Momma's right to be proud!

Sure beats the story about the 13 year old who tried to rob the homeowners with his gun.

    Good job Brady!
    Rats!
    It could be worse!
    I suppose

Good job,but that family needs to get training in defending a home/structure.It sounds like he may have over exposed himself when confronting the BG's instead of using good cover/concealment.Sport shooting is one type of skill, but defensive training is completely different and little mistakes can get you killed.Mexican standoffs suck, glad he lived to tell about it and wasn't required to shoot anybody at 14

OK, I will throw this out there. I wonder if the shotty was even loaded. He says he grabbed his gun and went to the stairs but does he keep a loaded shotty in his bedroom unlocked? If it was loaded, I wonder if it was with buck or #7 trap loads... Lots to think about here, but, in the end, glad it worked out for the kid and his family.

I wouldn't want a 14 year old to have a shotgun in his bedroom (yes, I'm assuming it was in his bedroom if it's his and he clearly has easy access to it)... I think that's pretty sketchy. Glad he's OK.

That would depend on the 14 year old. There are many (like this kid) who are perfectly capable and responsible enough. I had a 410 in my room from about the time I was 11. I had access to the 12 gauge, the .25-35 and both the .22 lr and ammunition for all. I also knew the consequences if I touched/used them inappropriately or without need.

Wow, guess my parents were sketchy too...

I had an old Sears and Roebuck 12ga, Marlin 60, various bb and pellet guns, and knives in my room from the time I was 8 or so.

How did I ever make it out of that house alive?

Oh yeah, responsible parents, that's right!

Yeah sometimes it's fine, but other times, you really don't know if they can handle the responsibility until it's too late unfortunately. Especially with all the testosterone around that age, dealing with middleschool/highschool... can be a scary thing. Glad you were one of the responsible ones :D
