This is a good argument for pepper spray as an alternative to a gun in some cases.

The old man was a clearly the aggressor here considering he was not playing ball and was trying to be a cop

The best way to win an argument is to avoid being in one at all. Especially if it's over something stupid, that has no bearing on you whatsoever.

A very good case in which it is better to deescalate or stay out of a situation completely.

Edit: But that goes for Mr James also. Daughter says "her father was 'on top' of Dooley at one point 'to keep him down so he could actually get the answer' about where the sign was."

    No winners here.

I agree with this. This old guy clearly steped over the line and is guilty of murder.

I don't think Stand Your Ground was created so one can start a fight then use deadly force to get out of it.

I feel bad for the little girl having to witness this regardless of fault.

i've said it a number of times....

a fight avoided is a fight won

id rather be proactive in avoiding a situation; failing that i want to be real intent on
desaculation. as a last resort im gonna do what is required to ensure my safety.

much is debated concerning involvement in others 'situations'
this man rather put the kabash on himself.

    And all over a skateboarder.

This situation does tend to show that Florida's law is misidentified as a "shoot first" justification.

This just amazes me. Skateboarding on an outdoor basketball court? That was all it was about? That is certainly nothing to be so upset about. Why on earth would that make a person start yelling? Why would both parties then proceed to squaring off and getting into a fight? This is tragic and sad in the lack of common sense and keeping a cool head in every respect.
