Love how the MSM Lady Anchor is Anti-Gun and Bias on this one.......
"A Raleigh County shooting is under investigation after a homeowner allegedly takes the law into their own hands.........."
(No, that is not bias at all!)
(snip)
.....when the homeowner opened the door the intruder attempted to hit the person with a club and then the homeowner shot the intruder in the chest. (assume this is factual)
.....The alleged intruder is currently receiving treatment.....
No Charges as of now......????
(must be a very 'Progressive' town)

Maybe the home address of the newsperson needs to be advertised as being a gun free zone. Then, let's see how long it would take for the newsperson to start liking guns.

Well, she used the "allege" word for both parties - and "no charges have been filed" covers both the shooter and the shot. At least she didn't refer to the shot guy as the "victim."

The station is a CBS affliiate in Ghent, WV. Our intrepid reporter's station Bio tells a lot. Draw your own conclusions.
Lauren Weppler joined the 59 news team in October 2010. She anchors the 10pm and 11pm nightly newscasts on Fox 59 and CBS.
Lauren has spent the last two years at the NBC affiliate WTAP news in Parkersburg, WV. There she reported through the week and on the weekends she anchored the weather.
Before her time in Parkersburg, Lauren interned at the PBS show To The Contrary in Washington, D.C. After her time in the nation's capital she knew what she wanted to pursue with her career, "I was revitalized and ready to make my mark with great storytelling."
Lauren was born and raised in the small town of Bethany West Virginia. She is a graduate from West Liberty University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While a proud hilltopper Lauren anchored and produced newscasts for the college campus WLTV-14.
When Lauren isn't working you can find her cuddled up on a couch reading a good book or out hiking in some of the beautiful hills around the state.

Why bold the stuff about being a reporter and anchoring the weather - she's got to start somewhere - and I think the "storytelling" quote is kinda taking things out of context.
However, I agree the crack about "taking the law into his own hands" is out of line.

takes the law into their own hands.
Oh no, no bias here.

I say, too bad the HO didn't shoot the loser in the head and save all the time and effort provided by the medical staff.

From the dumb reporter's bio..
"I'm so thrilled to be here in southern West Virginia and be serving my neighbors and friends of the mountain state!"
WVNS-TV is in Ghent, West Virginia....maybe West Virginia is the California of the south.

I wouldn't read too much into the report. And for now the intruder is alleged...all we have is the shooter's word. This is what investigations are for, yes? Don't know the back story, don't know all the facts.

Because they were the things that popped out to me. As for the "storytelling", I did not change what was written. Reporters should report the news factually and not engage in storytelling.

It's too easy to be Uber Sensative to what the ABC/CBS/NBC/CNBC/PBS crowd are socialized into parroting these days. I'm sure the LEO will figure it out. But she is biased.
Also, she came from Parkersburg. That media market is not 'back woods' WV. Its a lot more like D.C. in many ways.

Other than the "taking the law into his own hands", I saw nothing biased. It's pretty standard for reporters to CYA and call everyone involved "alleged" (and it's also factually correct as it relates to the legal status of the parties). That's for good reason. At this point, we only have the shooter's story, which obviously could turn out to be false. The taking the law bit could as easily be about adding color or drama to the story as bias.

If this reporter was magically put in the same set of circumstances, with "taking the law into your own hands" not being the right thing to do (as implied by her snyde comment), this reporter would have done what instead?
Asked by a CNN reporter "What do you feel when you shoot a terrorist"?, the Marine sniper simply shrugged & replied "recoil".
Now more than ever, we are at war on our home soil ...

She may be biased, but I don't see anything wrong with the portions of the news cast. Is there a video link or something. You also state that she is from Parkersburg and make generalizations about people from there. That seems biased to me.
