8 Shot After OK City Thunder Win

    Some folks are sore losers.

8 shot after Oklahoma City Thunder playoff win - CNN.com

CNN) -- Eight people were shot Monday night just blocks from the Chesapeake Energy Arena as large crowds were leaving the playoff game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Oklahoma City Thunder, police said.

Authorities were trying to determine what led to the shootings that occurred at about 11:35 p.m., said Capt. Dexter Nelson of the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Of the victims, one was in critical condition and seven suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Nelson said.

A T-shirt maker received death threats and withdrew his new creation:

    http://todaynewsgazette.com/company-...over-t-shirts/

Company Gets Death Threats Over T-shirts, A simple message used to show support for the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder sparks outrage. Company pulls anti-Seattle, Oklahoma City Thunder T-shirts after receiving death threats, The New York Times’ Howard Beck, on his way from Los Angeles to Oklahoma City to cover Monday’s Game 5 between the Lakers and Thunder, uncovered this rather shady T-shirt design on Sunday. The Thunder aren’t exactly giving these rags out at the door, but that didn’t stop our initial post on the T-shirts on Monday morning from inspiring a world of outrage on Twitter, and apparent death threats sent the way of Warpaint Clothing, the company that humorlessly put the duds together — utilizing the former Seattle SuperSonics logo along the way.

"Whenever you get about 8,000 people outside of a venue, many of them unruly, undisciplined and with criminal intent, we are going to be outnumbered," Nelson told CNN affiliate KOCO. "You can't have enough people down here for that." which is why the police are calling upon all civilians that may legally posess handguns, to do so. further we wish that all "gun free zones" be revisited with the goal of allowing people to protect themselves. as i have stated-- we, the police, are outnumbered and can obviously not be able to help every one everywhere.

Mob mentality .......... many of the patrons were leaving the arena so they wern't armed.

Things are getting outta hand. Lotta bad things happen when 'your' team wins and/or loses the 'big' game. Just stupid.............

I can't believe people pay to attend these games...they're already getting robbed, why wouldn't one expect more outside the arena?OMO

The suspect is now in police custody. He is only 19, so definitely did NOT have a CWP. Most of the victims were women. The victim in critical condition is a male. The city has now banned the gathering of fans outside the arena to watch the games on the HUGE monitor on the outdoor wall of the arena.

You could stop alot of crime by taking away their sports.

Except it's illegal to carry to a professional sporting event in OK.

that only makes it a gun free zone for honest law abiding people, criminals usually ignore such prohibitions, and it is extremely rare that a legal ccw permit holder would be involved in a crime like this

And a quote from the mayor I got from prowling around the home page for the broken link in post 6 above. From context, Thuder Alley appears to be the arena or the big screen on the outside of arena - not totally sure. I am sure that the mayor appears to be disconnected from reality.

Were gonna talk about Thunder Alley and how to improve it going forward. Its a tremendous asset to the city, Mayor Cornett said. Lets figure it out and make the next gathering bigger and safer than ever.
