I'm not even sure where to begin trying to tear this, and everyone involved, apart.

Please take everything I say with at least one grain of salt- I am a very sarcastic person with a very dry sense of humor.
May be old but I hadn't heard it. I will never, ever go into one of Costco's stores.

Thanks for keeping me posted on events from two years ago.
Amazingly, and probably because of black helicopter powers, the officers were given awards for this shooting.

not sure how you could carry a concealed firearm and not have heard the Erik Scott saga at Costco......cops basically opened fire on a Westpoint graduate carrying a concealed weapon....for no reason. The whole thing sticks like three day old tuna, and just a sad freaking story from start to finish. This needs to be a wake up call to everyone that has a CCW license.
Report to police of a "Man with a Gun" may be all they want to hear and they may react accordingly. Your license will do you no good if you never get a chance to show the cops that you are legal. The fact that all these Vegas PD officers are not in jail for murder is a damned crime in itself.
Kimbers are the guns you show your friends....Glocks are the ones you show your enemies.
Let's not bother to add that this Hero was a prescription pain medication addict who was heavily under the influence of narcotics, made some seriously bad decisions which prompted the shooting and that an extensive grand jury inquiry no billed the Officers involved. Let's not mention those facts.

It's funny how news of this magnitude from July 2010 takes so long to reach those who care the most about it. Having first read about it myself only a few months ago, it still hits a certain nerve in me that just doesn't dull with time.
It was suggested that he may have been an addict, but he certainly was on enough dope to drop an average guy. The fact that the Costco rent-a-cop basically gave misleading statements to 911, which in turn lead to the police coming in to what they thought was World War III, is also missing here. As is word that the testimony by several witnesses differed widely about the facts of the shooting. And then let's not point out the fact that one of the officers involved in this shooting recently took a plea deal for making a bad decision himself for giving a gun to a felon acquaintance - sound decision-making from one who helped take this guy's life.
This case has bad written all around it. No one involved deserves the thumbs-up there, but one of the involved is still dead.

My email to brother Jeff:
"Jeff, just saw a link to an article on Erik Scott that is purported to be published four hours ago. The incident is just short of two years. Your column reads like the mirror image on an antigun yellow rag. Get your facts, dude, and print the whole truth. Put some faith in your readers that we can arrive at an intelligent decision. I should have known when I saw the "A 9mm is False Protection" banner. Oh, yeah, that's a basic truism we all need to know. It reminds me of the hundreds of email hoaxes we have to deal with each year. "

Seems just because it is old news the cops were justified in what they did. From the witness statements it appears his "alleged" drug problem was not a problem. The article states the store manager has not issue with him.
To be fair to the original poster, if you look at the article linked it seems it was posted recently. Did you ever consider the original poster had never seen this until now. There is no way anyone of us can have immediate access to all such happenings. I doubt the even the news media has such access.

Old news to be sure, but still an important reminder that carrying concealed means "concealed." Displaying your firearm in public can have negative consequences.

Clark County is why Harry Ried is still screwing all of us............... oh the topic of this thread - old yes - relevant yes - and consitent with the corruption and lack of regard for your rights that goes on in Clark County. Vegas is for tourists (they get warnings). Clark County guns down its own citizens!
I'm being politically Neutral and not naming the obvious political party that runs Cook, um, oops, Clark County. Gee, makes you think that Vegas wants to be just like Chicago.
Yes old news, BUT STILL VERY BAD.

Never claimed the responding officers were angles and while one of those Officers turned out to be a dirt bag in a later incident iy has no bearing on the validity of the shoot. Everyone involved in this cluster made errors, but let's not forget the entire incident started with the Concealed Carry holder and his poor of judgement while under the influence of narcotics.
Had the dead man simply left the premise when told to do so the entire incident would have resolved differently.
