That is one hell of a riocheted bullet - I have a hard time seeing a .380 bullet riochete back 180 degrees without losing so much energy. Are we sure it is a riochete? or something else?

Copper and lead are nearly 100% non-sparking. His hope (probably) to make a loud explosion was highly unlikely in the first place. A tracer round may have had the desired result, but also somewhat unlikely in the caliber used. The fact that a ricochet killed him was proof of a little known law of physics...
