Not a big surprise. If they had came to his house, and the shooting took place, I doubt it would have ever gone to trial. He went onto the other persons property. He instigated the confrontation. You can be a contributor and then try and stand behind a Stand Your Ground defense.
Freedom doesn't come free. It is bought and paid for by the lives and blood of our men and women in uniform.

I am glad to see justice done. Now this guy needs a life in prison sentence.

Like no one saw that coming... He definitely won the "Grand Stupid Prize" for that stunt.
Sounds like a correct verdict to me.
And now he and his video tape can sink into the dark depths of the Texas Penal System... Just another statistic for Darwin.

"The gun is the great equalizer... For it is the gun, that allows the meek to repel the monsters; Whom are bigger, stronger and without conscience, prey on those who without one, would surely perish."
I think I have never seen a thread here with so much agreement.
It really makes you wonder what made that guy tick and act so stupid.
Here, juries decide the punishment. They came back with a verdict quickly. He's probably going to be a lifer
by noon tomorrow.

It's not a castle doctrine nor a stand your ground case if he was trespassing. Didn't he read the part about being involved in criminal activity before he started blabbing off fearing for his life, standing his ground and they're going to try to kill him? Tad bit of mental illness if you ask me.

Hope he knows how to stand his ground in prison when one of those muscle bound lifers asks him for a date![]()
If you can read this, thank a teacher. Because it's in English, thank a vet
His attorney should have had him make an insanity case, he surely could have proved it---standing there for 22 minutes, filming the whole thing![]()

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

What a travesty of justice. This guy should be given a medal for taking care of those noisy neighbors.
Ok, Hopyard, there is some disagreement for you since no one else will.
I pointed out in another post about the stand your ground in Texas, exactly what the last line in the article said, you don't get to claim self defense and you are standing your ground if you are provoking the other person.
He has a long long time to think about his crazy notion that if you tell the dispatcher you are in fear of your life and are standing your ground how much that will work for you.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

Serves him right, the Moron.
Nice of him to incriminate himself. Prosecutor had an easy job.

Thank you, thank you....
I have already posted the link w/ my comments on a couple of ANTI-RKBA leaning blogs that were championing this case (and the other five in the limelight) as "proof" that SYG was a Get-Out-of-Jail card for murders.
