St Petersburg Home Invasion: "Police!, Police! Police!"
St. Petersburg police release security video of home invasion suspects | wtsp.com
Caught on video and this poor guy had just lost his wife.
St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Petersburg police have released chilling surveillance video from a deadly home invasion earlier today.
Right now, a manhunt is still underway for the people responsible for that crime.
It was one of two violent robberies that took place within 30 minutes of each other beginning at about 4:30 a.m.
The images from the second robbery, captured just before 5:00 Tuesday morning, were taken at 41-year-old Richard Shaw's home on Orphine Drive. The home security video shows four men in their late teens or 20's, bursting into the house, guns drawn, yelling "Police! Police! Police!"

Due to them yelling police, police...... it can put a home owner into a hairy situation as to how to react.

OMG :( I skipped watching the news today and hadn't seen this... If someone burst in, especially while I was sleeping and disorientated, yelling "police" I'd think they either had the wrong addess or bad information. I wouldn't shoot right off the bat, yet by the time you realize they are just thugs it's too late...how awful.

Sorry, I'd shoot first and ask questions later. Just sayin you are the Po-Po don't cut it. This is based on the fact that nothing illegal goes on in my home.
If they are real Police, and cannot read the well lit house number (Well Lit) before they break in the door..... = stupid! And, invalid entry! Shoot! Bang!
Shoot first, especially if the alarm goes off. WORD. Family is trained same. Family is trained CQB rules of 'calling one's self in' prior to arriving (Cell Call) and at arrival (verbal). WORD.
Note to Bounty Hunters who tend to be stupid = try it! I ain't fronting no money for bail/bond either = you are even more legal to shoot in my home.
Edit Add (since I am in such an openly loving mood right now) - any of you thiefs with tow trucks try to hook one of my rides out front - I pay all my bills and am not behind = you meet Mister Hickory, many times. I will not discuss it with you.
I think reality TV shows have ruined good manners and common sense thinking in the USA.

Yes you know there is noting illegal going on in your house. However the wrong address on the no-knock warrant tells the police there is. Drawing/firing on the officers will most likely not be a happy time for the home owner unless they can handle a few hundred rounds in them.

So be it! Hopefully the spouse or offspring will live to be granted an abundance of leftover Tax Payer Money as a payout for the Big A$$ mistake!

You guys are already talking about suing ther police and yet in the article/photos it does not appear it was a police action.
Once again, what I see are pics of people who hardly look like the police to me. In some LE circles we call that a clue.
Back in my day at least you were not authorized to execute search warrants except between 0600-2200. Could that be a clue at 0430 in the morning?
Instead of sitting around talking about how you're going to shoot the police, maybe some time should be spent analyzing how you're going to deal with a home invasion by people who ain't the real police.

I shoot a cop busting into my home on a no-knock....... bad day for me. I shoot a thug yelling 'police!", my odds of living just increased, but still a bad (enough) day just the same.
My wife and daughters would comply just because they have no experience/training. There'd be a 50/50 chance I'd be heeled in my own home, BUT, I'd also recognize very quickly if they were police or not. Engaging in a fire fight in my own home would be risky enough but.......
Very good tatic on the thugs part to instill doubt and hesitation.
A father who just lost his wife is shot and killed (I'm assuming because the news report was SO vauge and poorly written) ......... very bad day.
I do hope the real police find these O2 wasters soonest.
Intresting comment in the story by one of the neighbors..........
"Whoever did it knew Rick Shaw, knew Rick Shaw's kids."
Bidwell says investigators need to be looking at the seedy acquaintances of Shaw's two sons: 18-year-old Alex, who was also home Tuesday morning, but uninjured. .........
It's someone, Bidwell believes, "that they know. That's been to the house before that's done this before."
Bidwell says about two weeks ago, Richard Shaw was injured during a fight with a couple of thugs at the same house.
This'll get really bad for the homeowners boy if that's the case...... AND the homeowner already defended his home/family/himself once before in the house just two weeks ago. That shows motivation and dedication on the thug/invaders part. VERY bad day!

The article really focused in on this one house, I'm sure because the homeowner died and because it had video survelliance. Another home 1-2 miles away was invaded 30 minutes before this one, same way but in that one the home owner took a beating, he wasn't killed. The news is saying they think both homes were targeted - I'm curious if there's something that ties the two together.
Sitting here at 10am I can logically think - would police break down a door at 4:30am to serve a warrant? But at 4:30am when wakened from sleep, it's going to take a min to say 'wait - what the heck are they doing here at 4:30?!" Not to mention they may not look like police, but you determine that once they're in your sight. By then they've got the jump on you. It does give a lot to think about.
I have no intention of shooting an officer. I'm totally on board shooting a bad guy. No qualms there. But an officer who's at my house due to bad information? No. Yes they should check and double check - but is the one coming through my front door the one who was even responsible for checking it out or was it handed to him to carry out the warrant? I'm not saying it's OK for the police to go barging through the wrong door but IMO it's not punishable by death. My chances for survival when up against the real police are better to comply anyway.
It will be interesting as more detail comes out about these two cases.

Lish, I would say you are correct. Most of those home invasions are not random. Most of the time the BG's are looking to steal dope or guns. I sort of like that "turd karma". The dope dealers get home invaded infinitely more often than the average Joe homeowner. Not saying it cant or wont happen, but I would imagine that most of these home invasions we hear about are anything but random.

This nonsense of having police dressed up as ninjas is poor thinking on the departments end, police should look like police, not covering their faces and in full uniform.
People using police as cover to enter or for a traffic stop should get an extra sentence of at least ten years above the crime.

I'd say they should have their tongue cut out so they can't ever yell that again. But that would be "cruel and unusual punishment" so we won't and then they may just go out and do it again. But it is okay for them to serve their sentence and go kill again as long as THEIR rights are not violated (never mind the poor homeowner - VICTIM). Our society is so screwed up it would be laughable if it weren't so sad.
