WTH... Google just got axed as my search engine. Bing turns up plenty of results.

Saw another thread on this topic. This isn't hype, isn't paranoia, and isn't about Obama. Google is censoring it's shopping results from all things related to firearms. Click the shopping tab and try it out for yourself. You will get 0 results. Plain and simple fact. Here is the link. Google Product Search Funny how all of these companies are up in arms over internet censorship - yet their whole business model and ideals revolve around it.

Absurd, isn't it? After doing a little more digging, apparently google isn't just blocking firearm related searches in the shopping section of their site - but are actively blocking/refusing to post firearm related advertisements, as well. ...But they accept all the pornographic material that companies will throw at them. How shocking. Link to article: No gun ads allowed at Google

Yes, the people trying to incite you to a state of panic forget to make it clear that this is for Google Shopping only, not the normal Google search engine. It's a free country, and Google has decided not to sell weapons and ammo from their site. It's their business, literally. I didn't even know Google Shopping existed until this thread was posted. As for me, I'm apolitical and I couldn't care less which search engine I'm using. as long as I get my results, which I do.

No one is inducing panic here... This is how it all starts First they implement censorship into the shopping portion of their site, then it spreads to other areas - potentially the main search function and gmail. Yes, they are a company and can do things as they please. The simple fact that they were one of the main adversarys to the censorship of the internet makes them more than hypocritical. Their bias and censorship means that you cant trust their company to give you accurate unbiased information. It means they are spoon feeding you the internet as they see fit. If you are comfortable with that, kudos for you. Personally, I am not going to use a search engine that conducts itself in such a manner. I have bolded the portion of your post that doesn't make sense to me. Google officially is preventing you from getting results that you are looking for. If they get away with it in one area of their site, what makes you think they won't be doing it in other areas - and how could you be sure it isn't happening? You can't. Hence, I won't be using google as a search tool any longer. I don't think anyone is blowing this situation out of proportion. It is what it is.

Google shopping is not targeting firearms. There is a list of other items also. I think it is stupid also. As far as their own statement:
“All of the items in your feed must be in compliance with Google Shopping policies,” the company said on the site’s support center. “In particular, all items have to be family safe.”
You can look up lingerie and "adult toys" and they are right their before. So I guess family safe does not mean family firendly LOL

I switched to bing a long time ago and have been happy with the switch ever since. Google and the people that run it have never been firearms friendly.
