Seems like the shot had to be very well placed to kill a animal that big with one shot from a .22 rifle. Eye should do it. Any that would stop the brain or spinal cord.

A shot behind the base of the ear angled forward would work.

Not sure why people always get so surprised when this happens.

Does this mean I can go bear hunting with my .22 now?

One shot did it. It's all I need right?

Yup. That settles it. Anything more is just overkill.

I'm surprised that an "Avid Hunter" only had a 22 rifle available,on the other hand I know a guy that if he needed a gun it would probably take him at least 5 minutes to get the gun and ammo ready

My experiences with bear meat have not been cool. Nasty tasting stuff in my opinion.

Why is everyone assuming the ".22 Cal" was a .22lr? I'll bet it was .223 or 22.250.

Because if he shot it with a .223 the news would have reported that he shot it with an evil black machine gun. : )
