No real details given but this is a station I have used several times. Oh and it weren’t me.
Customer shoots Goldsboro store robbery suspect
Goldsboro, N.C. — A customer walked into a robbery going on in a convenience store early Tuesday and shot the suspected robber, Goldsboro police said.
Police said a man with a handgun came into the Kangaroo Express, 901 W. Grantham St., around 3 a.m. and tried to rob a female employee. The male customer shot the robber once.

sounds to me like they can't ID the robber.... not the shooter

Customer who shot robber in Goldsboro won't be charged
Goldsboro, N.C. — A customer who witnessed an armed robbery at a Goldsboro convenience and shot the suspect will not face charges in the incident, police said Thursday.
Christopher Jamale Vann, 27, of 110 Highland Acres in Faison, was shot in the head during the robbery, which happened about 3:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Kangaroo Express on Grantham Street. Vann was listed in serious condition Thursday at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
