Let the gangs keep it up, that way we don't have to support them in jails and prisons. Losers all the way around for everyone.

Sadly, I think it's going to take a far, far higher rate of murders and such attacks in order for the Chicago populace to rise up against such lunacy as forcible disarmament of the citizenry. I can only hope they'll see the light at some point.

Ironic that disarmament is done at the point of a gun, essentially. Illustrates the utter truth of it all.

I totally agree. After all, the destruction of two towers and the murder of more than 3,000 people hardly caused a hiccup in the "be kind to Muslims" movement.

Unfortunately, I don't think a person dying every minute in Chicago would change minds for the better. This is a mindset or worldview that these people have that causes them to interpret these facts in the way that they do. Adding to the body count won't change the way they interpret these things, it will just make them even more vehement that it is the fault of firearms that is causing all the death.

I would think the next thing would be..."Here's my purse/wallet. Please don't shoot me."... followed by falling to your knees and crying.

1400+ murders a day, for awhile? That just might provide the impetus that turns the pie-in-sky, utopian wishful thinking on its head. Add to that the simple reality that few murderers will allow a 911 call to be made prior to bleed-out, and I think we'd have many regain the inkling of intelligence they once had. (Chalk that up to my pie-in-the-sky utopian wish, perhaps, "out there" though it might be.)

I'm not saying 1400+ murders a day would not change some minds, but to me, the issue isn't about numbers of dead. It's about why they are dying. The anti's are blaming the guns for the deaths of a few. I don't think multiplying the numbers will do anything but put more blame on the guns. Just like with the killings in Aurora, CO. Why was there such a huge anti-gun cry from the media, politicians, and anti groups? It was a large (larger) number of people killed and wounded in one event compared the the one-off murders that happen all the time. Were these people thinking that the large number should make them think it was something else? No, their first reaction was to put more gun controls in place.

I repeat that this is a worldview issue, and an increase in deaths will only make the anti's that much stronger in their opposition to firearms, because their minds cannot wrap themselves around the real cause of the issue.
