Cops Credit Calif. Hostage for Ending Standoff Peacefully | ABC News Blogs - Yahoo!
Guy walks in, puts a round in the ceiling and takes the girl hostage. Never says what he wants, but does say that he does not want money. The hostage eventually talks him down.

But that doesn't even work. She didn't comply. She stepped out on a limb and talked him down. That's a huge risk with an unstable person. The same words, vocal inflection and timing that worked perfectly on this guy may set another off. She gambled and it paid off, and it was a great move on her part.
