It's sad when a Law Enforcement Officer gets killed just doing his job. May he rest in peace and prayers for his family.

Sounds like there were 2 fatal errors made,"Handcuffed in the front","Missed finding the handgun during a search".With all the ways there are to carry a concealed firearm nowadays I would thoroughly search a suspect and especially the crotch area,There are a lot of times that LEO's find guns/knives/drugs hidden in the back of cars after transporting a prisoner,this time a missed gun turned deadly

We all hate searching the crotch area. Yes I've found drugs hidden later on but have just been lucky that no one has gotten a gun by on me. Can't lie though, during a frisk I missed a Kel Tec .32 once. Luckily I found it on a subsequent search incident to arrest.
Sad day for this trooper's family and cohorts, may he R.I.P.

While I am saddened at any death, I would have to say, this was piss-poor police work here. The surviving officer will need to be evaluated to see if he is suitable material for an officer and if he is, retrained.
