Rodgers said Yee had previously played before with Rusty. <- This will not go well for Yee.

With so little detail and it being early stages, it's hard to know whether justification existed. As the old adage goes, the devil's in the details.

    • Unknown distance/speed/demeanor of the onrushing dog.
    • Unknown whether the accused recognized the dog, as was claimed by the neighbor.
    • Think: how willing are you go potentially go to prison (and/or harm others) over a dog?
    • A.O.J.: Ability, Opportunity, Jeopardy.
    • If you need to fire: Know your target, and what's beyond (neighbors, nearby pedestrian).

Hopefully more detail will come along, sometime soon.
Your best weapon is your brain. Don't leave home without it.
    Thoughts: Justifiable self defense (A.O.J.).
Explain: How does disarming victims reduce the number of victims?
Reason over Force: The Gun is Civilization (Marko Kloos).

    Some more details:
Man accused of killing neighbor's dog | KXAN.com

I'll give Yee a chance to tell his story, but it doesn't look good. He knew the dog and the owner, and the dog was not known for being vicious. The dog ran out of the door while guest were leaving. I know that shouldn't happen, but Mr Rodgers handled himself a lot better than I might have.

At least KXAN left the pro-gun quote from the dog owner in the article.
"I do feel, as Americans, we do have the right to bear arm, so I want that to be known and that it is isolated," he said. "He was just a bizarre individual."

Meanwhile,Meanwhile Billy (Amber's wife) said he believes the shooting was random (And) "I do feel, as Americans, we do have the right to bear arm, so I want that to be known and that it is isolated," he said. "He was just a bizarre individual.
to say this after his dog was shot is hard...

Well, you know the old saying: When all you have is a hammer everything starts to look like a nail.

Even if he was concerned about a neighboring dog...spending $5 Bucks on some OC spray would have been a mighty fine idea.

Sounds like he needs to apply for a job at Austin PD. With those dog shooting skills he would be hired on the spot.
