That must have been one smokin' slice! Seriously, I always carry at least OC spray on my golf bag here in Florida. In fact the best fight I've seen in 15 years was between two drunks on the green at a local muni course. Tempers can definitely flare on the course.
I never understood why people, who buy a house on a golf course, complain when their house gets hit by a golf ball. Of course, I've never done that. :032:
Had a similar situation happen to me, once, though it didn't involve violence beyond being accosted and essentially threatened with extortion.
I faded a long drive just over the trees lining the right edge of the fairway, it bounded down the road, then piled into the hood of his car. He decided he'd come out to accost the people responsible for the errant shot. Was extremely upset. He wasn't armed, but he was angry enough for it all to be threatening. Wouldn't accept that situations such as this (with homes/cars in such 'obvious' proximity) are what insurance is for. He had it, but wasn't amused. Backed down when I asked if he was expecting extortion to work, or would he prefer I get the police get involved. Glad I was with a couple others, else he might well have gotten rough (his eyes had that 'tough guy' type energy to them).
Ah, well. I'm assuming he got the monster dent removed. Never did get the ball back.
Was armed. Wasn't interested in a fight, nor getting battered. Glad it went nowhere, after he saw where his abuse was taking things.
I wonder did the shooter yell...'FORE' when he pulled the trigger. That, at least, would be proper etiquette.
Golf, the best way to ruin a good walk.
Well... here's a really BIG HINT ..... don't live in a house near the fairway .... nimrod.
Ever play Chandler Park in Detroit? Doesn't matter how good of a golfer you are.
What ... Golfers get shot at, every other hole, no matter the skill level? Must be a democratic precinct.
Or, it's so unforgiving of drawing/fading that everyone's essentially a duffer? According to the scorecard layout, it looks pretty short (blues/5800yds) and straight, at least from this vantage point. Must be one narrow, ugly place, then.
Yea it's a short course. Of course its not the grass and trees that are the problems. Trying to drive and dodge lead is the real challenge. Yes it is smack in the middle of a Democratic precint. Most of the houses around the course and in the general area are abandond and burned out just like the rest of the city.
I don't golf, but I have seen Caddy Shack. I guess you need a weapon for the gophers.
The guy wasn't kidnapped and forced to live next to the golf course! If you live next to a golf course expect golf balls. If you live near an airport, expect planes.
Did the guy yell "fore" before he shot the golfer?

Mister shotgun rage may want to move himself to a safer location...something that's not in the line of fire.
I play on a course with some houses near. But I'm more concerned with the creature responsible for the "leavings" viewed the last few times we were there.
Whatever it is, it is pretty good sized, and eats small furry rodents. I carry on my hip, in case I'm not near my bag.
