    Bottom line is the victims are not dead.

    When I hunted soviet subs for a living, we would keep them down below 300 feet which effectively eliminated them as a threat to the fleet. (They were below the mixed layer and could not obtain a firing solution on target plus they don't really like opening torpedo tubes at that depth... something about letting water into that sewer pipe...
