The number of people killed because they didn't have "enough gun" is dwarfed by those who had none at all. Get a gun you will always carry, and add more capability as you grow.
There's really not much one can say about something that stupid. So sorry for the next of kin. How does one explain that to the parents?

Unsurprising, that the media spin the write-up to claim the bullet discharged itself. He pulled the trigger while the gun was pointed at the guy's head. The bullet didn't simply "discharge."
