Good: Retired HFD turns the tables on the BGs

Retired Houston Fireman is forced into his home by armed gunmen as he gets home after a trip to the grocery store. He gets to a gun, "stopping the threat" from one BG, and exchanges fire with the other, who flees... The woman and teenaged girl in the residence appear to have been unharmed.

At first it sounded like he had to retrieve a gun in the house, but the sly dog was packing and waited til he got the drop then dropped the BG.The neighbours said it's not the first time the family was robbed.
I have watched the "first 48 hours" and seen a few home invasion homicides that people were selected because of thugs seeing them carry big screen tv's in the house,or the Tv's and Computers etc could be seen from outside.I pretty much keep my window shades down 24/7,but a dead giveaway is sitting the boxes out by the curb.
It's a shame that people that buy a few nice things to reward themselves for working hard can get robbed by people who don't work or have any desire to work a real job

    Good: Retired Firefighter Defends Home

Just read this in a Houston news web site. I took from this to re enforce situational awareness when outside of my home.

"The robber who died at the scene has been identified as Joseph Goudeau, 35, a man who was recently released from prison."

Didn't the BG know it was illegal for him to possess a firearm? The education of our convicts as to being law-abiding citizens is sorely lacking.

Good job to the home owner who defended himself. My understanding is that things went from bad(?) to worse after the influx of refuges following Katrina.
