Detroit - Enter at your own risk

Although this originated from the DPOA, there is a smattering of truth to it. If I were a visitor to Motown and didn't know where I was going in the city and when not to be in certain areas, AND I was unarmed, then yes, enter at your own risk.

That's a real shame. Watch Detroit closely... It's a preview of what a collapsing (collapsed) USA might resemble, in the very early stages.

Thanks MCG.. For keeping us aware.

Detroit isn't on my vacation list.

I find this article quite disturbing. It is almost as if the government of Michigan has just given up on the city of Detroit... it's like "Escape from New York", just wall it off and keep civilians out.

In years past I spent too much time there. That's a mean city. Life trades cheap and not enough folks cry about it. Not for me.

I went to DC last year to deliver some parts. Geeze I didn't know it was so bad and up around Baltimore, GOD help us all. We are in a mess now.

I drove through DC every day for work for nearly 20 years. We learned to keep our heads down and doors and windows closed and locked while driving after dark. Frequently heard gun fights...yeah, I know, guns are illegal in DC.

Detroit has been this way for as long as I can remember. No news here.

I grew up outside of Detroit. They used to make shirts that said, "Detroit: where the weak are killed and eaten." I've actually heard some entrepreneurs are taking up residence, things could improve. Couldn't get much worse than it was with Kwame Kilpatrick.

Yup. Just another reason that the only real, ultimate control against vermin is: every citizen being armed to the teeth, prepared on the instant of violence to be able to resist it. Particularly in a case of full community collapse.

One nice thought: if the city should die, imagine what the first stop might be for many of the vermin. No prizes for guesses, but I'm betting Chicago would see plenty of them.

Some people are very positive about the place, there was an ad on TV today extolling the terrific virtues of the city. Well I say a fool and his money are soon parted and since the ad was put out by the city I don't believe a word of it. It used to be a great city to visit when I was a kid (early 1950's), I avoid it like the plague now. Michigan may be in economic recovery but not Detroit.
