Guns kill people, plain and simple. They just need time to grow up and get bigger and stronger to be able to do it. Yeah, gun sales have increased by a bunch over the past few years, but those are new, young guns, who haven't had a chance to mature and train in the art of killing. Give it another year or two and they will be ready to start killing left and right. You'll see.

I may be a bit confused myself. Where does a guy find a good holster for an atlatl?

The only thing I don't like in the op ed is this:

Oh, sure, there are blips: an 18 percent increase in reported violent crime last year -
Anti -gunners will draw a dotted line from that to this (from the same article):

Ruger's sales have increased 86 percent in the past four years. Smith & Wesson's sales have gone up nearly 44 percent, the article said
To say nothing about the same line in the article that says retail sales are up 18% (that's total retail sales of everything, not just guns) An exact match!

So, some good anti spinner will quote the article like this:

"Even pro gun advocates; who favor reasonable gun controls, have admitted that sales of guns were up at least 18%, the same percentage as the recent uptick in reported violent crime." D. Bonavita, McLean publishing 10-25-12
Sometimes our best friends say things that can be used against us... The source is cited, and the facts are true (though misrepresented), no one will check the citation or read the article...
    Rats!
    It could be worse!
    I suppose

The author doesn't really make any sense. He throws out a few statistics, then ignores them and makes random, unsubstantiated claims about his ideas on gun control and the causes and deterents of crime.

It is what it is: an opinion piece by someone with minimal knowledge of topic.
