    Liberal and un-armed in Seattle

    In Seattle, nothing says

    Best quote from the article:

"A lot of people are not too keen about having their neighborhood identified as an area with very low CPL numbers and thus – presumably, anyway – a low rate of gun ownership. As one person suggested, this shows the criminal element where people are most vulnerable.

...that’s the fault of the people who have been living the make-believe Utopian lifestyle, where hand-wringing, candlelight vigils, group hugs and piling up bouquets of flowers evidently substitutes for being proactive and fighting back."

I recently found out that league city Texas, 15miles south of Houston on Galveston bay, has the highest number of chl per capita in Texas and one of the highest in the US.

I'll need to look up the crime rate but I think it's pretty low and consists of small time stuff.

You have to take into account the population too. Vermont has 600,000 people total for example and really really low amounts of gun crime. It tends to be tiny communities, and few bigger cities with poverty.

    Liberals with guns? Never!

Never got the political association with gun ownership. One does not seem synonymous with the other.

Yeah, I've known quite a few Democrat voting gun owners.

There's also the confusion that comes along with being a libertarian who has views from both sides, people will say "Oh my god you believe in pro choice but love guns? DOES NOT COMPUTE!" and they can't comprehend that people aren't blindly X or Y.

That's why I stay firmly independent thank you!

    So...
If we were to break up all of our big cities into a bunch of small ones, crime would be reduced?
Sounds like a good idea, we outlaw big cities, any city with say... more than 25,000 people needs to close its doors to new residents. :)

Correct. And furthermore, since the overall crime rate among CPL (CCW) holders is so low as to be statistically insignificant, we should make everyone 21 and over get CPLs - that would lower the crime rate, too.

So they realize that guns are good for protection but still think they are too evil to own? We should send them some of these signs to put up in the neighborhood.

They might not be too evil to own if you're in a small town, say prominent liberals. The problem is that liberals are also seemingly against small towns, because also they push Smart Growth/densification everywhere they can.

    Keep a low profile.

I am the sheep that you fear. Word.

Why does everone continue (especially our elected officials) to consider/regard that criminals are stupid? And then prey on voters to believe that they, the elected officals, are looking out for the best interest of everyone, but only to protect thier petty elected time span.

The rest of the proffessionally ignorant population are simply the sheep that we do not fear. Word, again!

as it should be in every city in the U.S. - not surprising to me as I did a lot of work in South Houston and down to Galveston before there was a concealed carr law in Texas.....and everyone had a gun under their seat, and if you saw a pickup truck, there was a shotgun rack in the back window with a couple of 12ga hanging.
Don't Mess with Texas?? Do so and pay the price.

Oh we still carry our shotguns and rifles in our pickups. Only now they are either hanging in front of the seats, or up under the roof in a rifle rack. We quit carrying them in the window. We didn't stop carrying them.

And you can bet there's a big bore pistol stuffed between the seats too! With the pistol butt squarely against the Drivers right leg.

    Well, most of us anyway!

Don't mess with Texas. We're going ot follow Oklahoma here soon and legalize open carry. Then I'm going to drag out my Western Holster to wear!!!!! (Not Really)

I believe that, along the lines of Smitty, if everyone had the option they could carry as they see ft, some would not all the time and that is ok. That is why it is called freedom. The bonus would be that instead of us guessing who is a criminal and wanting to harm us, the criminals would have to play the stats game and think: Gee, which one of these guy might not kill me if I mess with him? Turn the tables!
