Ask the lawyers, this is exactly what you should say. "I was just trying to stop him." Not, "I was trying to kill him."
    eschew obfuscation

The only thing that stops bad guys with guns is good guys with guns. SgtD

Nice ending. Could have used a little more upward elevation however.

There's no dead suspect -- he was merely shot in the leg, and the others "escaped" -- so... what "happy ending"?

I love it how the utter ignorance and stupidity of criminals catches them up.
Once the police had any inkling of a connection (homeowner says he shot someone who then fled; guy says he was shot the same night, probably in a location where no one reported any such thing at the time he says it happened, and there is no blood evidence found where he claims it happened), they surely had someone compare the blood that was undoubtedly found at the scene of the shooting, which placed the loser there, and not as a victim of a "drive-by."

One wonders how many "drive-bys" are actually not that at all, but instead some criminal who got shot by an intended victim (possibly another rival criminal or drug dealer) and doesn't want to admit the real circumstances that led to it.
