Just a few days and we have fights with fists, knives and guns. Over gas. Looks like MANY did not plan by filling up BEFORE Sandy.....
It is not like we didn't know it was coming.

There are fistfights every (EVERY!) day over things as foolish as who's basketball team is better. (Hey jryan630, ggGGGGo 'CATS!) Why should we be surprised that the 24 hour, sensationalist news cycle wants us to believe that New York City is on the brink of complete social chaos. After all, that keeps us watching...their news.

the first thing to go after a hurricane is the gas supply. You need electricity to unload the fuel trucks and the steady supply to New York from the refineries was halted during the hurricane. D'oh.
In 2004, we experienced the same thing in Orlando.....three times, after Charley, Francis and Jeanne. I warned members here that they should stock up on fuel and other necessities, and hope
they took it seriously. Apparently no one in New York has a clue what to expect in the aftermath of a good strong hurricane. NO FUEL, NO FOOD, NO ELECTRICITY.
