Way to go! I love his quote from the story,

He went to hollering when I hit him, 'ow, yow,' I heard him clear down the block," he said. "I must've hit him pretty good because one of the detectives came by to check on us and said they transferred him to Tulsa."
Maybe if he'd had a 1911 .45 the "suspect" would not be hollering, he'd be dead.

If he HAD killed him, we'd hear just how good of a young man this was, he was just turning his life around, etc, etc, etc.......

My son was a Marine. Trust me on this, there are no Ex Marines. Only Marines on active duty, and Marines on inactive status. They are all Marines.

The guy kept his cool and protected his home. Good for him.

Shame their house has been targeted so many times. Hopefully that changes now that the word on the street is, it could cost you your life.

Well good, now he can get even older. He also has the right to sit around and rant about how stupid the younger generation is because he now has proof. Picked on the wrong old couple.

Many of us, me included, who are not military have used the phrase ex-Marine but not in a condecending or insulting manner, it's just an English phrase that describes something but perhaps in an erroneous way. My appologies.

We have also said that someone "won" the Congressional Medal of Honour" but of course they don't "win" it, they earn it by their service, but without thinking we say stuff. Much of it is unintentional.

This Marine busted a cap into some thug. He could easily have been Army, Navy, an Aviator or someone stuck in the States. The fact is that someone from the WW II era took his safety serious enough to shoot the perpetrator and stop the threat. 'Ex" anything does not matter.
