NYPD reportedly eyes gun, '8' link in deaths of 3 shopkeepers | Fox News
"A suspected serial killer is being sought in New York after killing three Brooklyn shopkeepers with business addresses that share the number “8,” law enforcement source told The Post."
Not a lot of details but apparently the gunman hasn't heard that guns are illegal in NYC.

Isn't "8" the brand of the bad guys in "the Postman"?
I don't always have nothing to say, but when I do, I post it on Facebook.

This is a conspiracy... most of the police pct's in brooklyn begin with "8".... you think he's going to do cops next?... then there's 80th st to 87 st... I'd move if I was those folks
Seriously... I hope they round up this mutt soon... It wasnt the gun whp shot those folks... it was the fecal matter who had the gun...

This version of the story Police Hunt Serial Killer of Brooklyn Shopkeepers | NBC New York doesn't mention the '8' thing, but does say that the victims are all Middle Eastern
and the police suspect a hate crime. They have video and pics of a potential suspect which anyone interested in
can view at the link I posted.
Anyway, all killed with that "ineffective" stupid useless .22 that ain't worth nothing.

In a city of 8M+ people, that's a lot of 8's to worry about. What, are ~300K people supposed to now be highly concerned?
If the addresses were "8" exactly, and all the same sort of shops, then I might be more inclined to take some precautions. ie, baker at 8 Oak got wacked, then a baker at 8 Lemon, then a baker at 8 Jackson. Being a baker at 8 Madison might be a bit more worrisome, then.

How many digits are in a typical NY address? If it's more than a few than the odds of containing an 8 could be quite high.

Does anyone know the penalty for a like crime??? The so called "hate crime" laws are simply asinine. A crime is a crime and the penalty should not be more or less.

Agreed! It doesn't matter what the motive is, murder is murder.
