GOOD: NYPD officer buys boots for homeless man
Larry DePrimo, NYPD Cop, Buys Homeless Man Boots (PHOTO)
I lived in NYC for several years and was also an auxiliary cop for 2 years and the officers I met were all kind and helpful. But this gentleman has gone above and beyond. This is a wonderful reminder that the police do protect and serve.
But I'm still gonna carry whenever I can, because when seconds count, the police are minutes away!

Yes, it was a great thing to do. He is a prime example of a person who actually cares. You don't seem to see them around as much anymore, but they are there.

There's many people out there with varying professions who do this type of thing and organizations dedicated to doing this type of thing.
I'm guessing this just went viral because he's NYPD and they seem to mostly get negative press.
Anyways, great guy and did a great thing. I found it very sad the homeless man said he's NEVER had a pair of shoes before.

I don't think this reflects on his chosen profession as much as it reflects on his character, compassion and decency.

Also, the store where he purchased the boots from gave him a 25% discount. Pass out the kudos for everyone involved.

You would be surprised at how often the hat gets passed for a kid who lost his bike, a guy that needs shoes, a stranded motorist....It happens a lot. DR

Awesome gesture on the officers part! It is true that you cannot solve the worlds problems but it is a great thing to make one life more comfortable.
