Well, that news report said a lot about nothing.

I'm glad the perpetrator got apprehended, but really, what was the homeowner's son thinking:
"The victim attempted to defend himself by striking Smith in the head with a handgun he had in his possession. This caused an unintentional discharge of the handgun, and Smith was struck in the head by a bullet."
Was he thinking the weapon made a better hammer than a firearm?

Most of these dirtbags leave jail and 'do a job' on their way home (under some rock).
They've learned nothing, and cause grief and havoc for those around them.
Uncle Ted has stated it correctly...we all know how he feels about repeat offenders.
Glad this home owner's visitor got PART of what he deserved.

Let's see if I understand what I read.
An alleged burgler bumps his head into a bullet that came out of a gun possessed by an occupant of an allegedly unoccupied property. Did I get this straight?
The detectives are going to have fun with this one.

Provided medical attention?? Now that's really stupid.
Here I was all ready to be proud of a local citizen taking care of a local POS and then I read that the citizen hit the POS in the head with his gun???????!!!!!!!!!
To quote Kevin Costner as Dances with Wolves, "SHOOT the gun"!
I have often stated that an auto pistol without one in the chamber is a hammer, but when loaded it is no longer safe to smack things with, and certainly trumped by a Sledgehammer. In this case the homeowner should be charged with improper and unsafe use of tools. I would never loan this guy my chisels or a chainsaw.
I don't always have nothing to say, but when I do, I post it on Facebook.
Don't know the entire story here or the circumstances but, the guy pistol-whipping the thug may not have had the intestinal fortitude to really shoot him during the commission of this crime.
A lot of people spout off the bravado that "I'd plunk 3 center mass" and be done with it. One has to remember even though this "kid" is a criminal, he is still a human being and shooting one of them at close range will be challenging. Many of us do not want to ever have to do this and placed into the same set of circumstances, who knows.
There is a real problem with the revolving door system of commiting crime and shoved back out on the street to continue unabated until all your Lucky Charms get used up and a few hot pieces of lead get injected. This "kid" is definitely headed for an eternal dirt nap.
