    CHP Holder shoots mugger

I just saw on the local news a couple were walking in New Orleans when a mugger pulled a gun, the victim pulled his and killed the robber.

I'm curious to see the reactions of this locally.

I'll look for a link. They just talked about it on the news.

They also talked about a shopkeeper that was arrested for shooting a guy in his store that tried to attack him, and another shooting in nola. It was a busy day.

Haven't been able to see anything related to that, but I did find this scary bit.

ATF, Police team up to get guns off New Orleans streets
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

Yeah, the feds are trying to get people to call in and report people with guns. The callers get a cash reward.

They said on the news that if you see someone with a gun that you think shouldn't have one then you should call. I see this causing problems for legal people. As it is the LE attitude in the city is that only police should have guns, as we saw during the storm.

"BREAKING NEWS: Police Investigate Two Murders In Less Than One Hour "

If the shooting was justifiable, and no charges are being pressed the WHY DOES THE HEADLINE READ "TWO MURDERS"?

    Idiots....Idiots....Idiots.

What are they studying in lieu of vocabulary definitions at journalism school these days? Somebody needs to send the headline writer a copy of Websters.

Last time I checked killing in self defense didn't equate to murder. Maybe it's "New English".

It would look as if there is at least one news source that is not totaly anti gun.

    Alleged robber shot dead
    From staff reports

An unidentified man was shot dead Tuesday night while allegedly trying to rob a woman in Faubourg Marigny, New Orleans police said.

Police said the woman, 27, and a male companion, 28, were walking about 8:45 p.m. in the 2200 block of North Rampart Street when another man held a handgun against the woman’s back and demanded money, Garry Flot, a police public information officer, said.

Her companion, who has a concealed weapon permit, pulled his own handgun and shot the gunman several times, police said.

The gunman, who had no identification on him, died at the scene, between Elysian Fields Avenue and Marigny Street.

The case is under investigation, but no charges were filed Tuesday night.

Good for the would-be victims to shoot the robber. Turns the table completely on the BG.

I'm curious if there were a string of these type robberies in that area that all of a sudden stop.

A man sent to hell, on Elysian Fields Avenue. How ironic.

The news is now showing a story, they showed a gun shop that got 50% more calls about permits and more visitors wanting guns. They also showed a town meeting for the area where the mugger was shot. They think he was the mugger in other cases. The citizens interviewed were all for citizens defending themselves, the city officials there would rather you call the police and work with the city to fight crime.

How do they expect you to call them and wait for them while some thug has a gun to your back.

I had a lot of the same thoughts when I saw it on the news. Channel 6-WDSU had it as 2 'MURDERS' like someone else said. And as I watched they said the police were calling it justified. Then how is it murder? So I clicked the remote and 4-WWL was covering it without the anti-gun agenda.

I thought it was great that the violent end was met by the BG in NOLA for once. Also, that 28yo male companion became a knight in shining armor to the lady, didn't he?

The police cannot contain it all down there. One told us it was like a free for all after dark. They are working hard to clean up the filth, but more armed good guys certainly helped.

The city is crazy about only police having guns for some reason. Look what they did during the storm aftermath.
