My face while reading some of the comments:

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Sounds like the guy was a little "off" if the news reports are accurate which, as we know, is not always the case.

Good for the cops. One less BG idiot with guns in the LGS.

Brought rifle in, during an ammo purchase; wouldn't exit the store when asked; and then, aimed a handgun at officers during refusal to stop vehicle?

If true, it ended about how one would think: badly.

After reading that story, all I can say is, " good shot Mr LEO"! I hope he gets a raise.

At first I assumed he was trying to take the firearm into the store to have it repaired, since they stated that the store does repairs. Kinda ridiculous for them not to let a customer bring a firearm in for repairs since that is a service they provide. If Academy requires you wait outside and they come get the firearm to be repaired, I would not be taking my firearm there for repair. However, since it's not known if this was the case, because all they did was buy ammo, the question remains, why would someone carry their firearm openly into the store in order to just buy ammo for it? Something is missing here. The guy made a mistake when he pointed a weapon out the rear window of the truck at police. That much is true. It ended badly for him.

According to the article in the OP, the procedure at Academy is to bring the gun to the Customer Service counter. Am assuming this would be at the front of the store; it has been at other such shops I've been to. They'll take it from there. No "waiting outside."

When bringing in a firearm for some kind of service at the Billings, MT Cabela's, one stops by a special booth to have the weapon logged in and a trigger guard is then attached. Easy peasy...

If carrying a concealed weapon, with a license, then one is free to carry it inside the store without any fuss.
If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun.

This guy was a complete idiot capped off by his final fail of pointing a gun at a cop. How stupid can one person be?

    Stupid hurts.

As for the comments; News4Jax is the worst reporting in town and the people that post comments on their site are downright nasty. I go there just to read the comments and some are quiete racist as well as anti-gun. Just laugh at them and forget them.

Lived in the Jacksonville area all my life and it just keeps getting worse.
