I honestly don't feel that preaching like this has anything to do with what happened. Religion has produced plenty of its own crazies, and probably more than the non-religious. Morals, family and community are things that can be taught without relation to one's own faith.

Some of the news coverage has it right. People need to be aware of warning signs in those people that they know.

Every teacher in that school, who can qualify, should have been armed!

Agreed.

IMO, it should be an absolute job requirement of being charged with the lives of large groups of people. Educators and administrators at schools included. Merely going through occasional evacuation drills and sensitivity training doesn't cut it, when the chips are down.

I'm on this board because I'm pro 2A but in what universe do you folks see an elementary school being taught by a group of "Dirty Harry" teachers packing heat? I can't imagine any of my (then) middle aged women teachers, who constituted the majority of my teachers when I was in school, shooting at an intruder who is armed.

Please, for five minutes, let both sides quit standing in the blood of the victims... And quit proselytizing over how we should stop this madness, whether it be with more regulation or less....

And just think about, pray for (if you're so inclined), the victims.

I am not a praying man but my thoughts and heart go out to the victims and their families. As much as I try to understand, this kind of tragedy is beyond my comprehension and it saddens me so much that this is what our world is.

Let this day be about those poor children, the teachers and their families and not about the pro's and anti's. I know we are all thinking about the 2A aftermath but let's let it go...just for today.

He already supervises morning drop-off, afternoon pick-up, plus any special events. He already carries a radio linking him to the main office, so why not have him carry a reasonably compact sidearm as well- just in case?

That makes perfectly good sense. I'm just saying that some of the ideas being tossed around of arming every elementary school teacher with a sidearm is a little bit unrealistic & a tad bit silly. We all went to school, we all primarily had the same type of teachers, how many of you can actually imagine a situation where a majority of your teachers from back then would be able to take on an armed intruder?

I keep seeing statements like "F the NRA" and "Ban guns now" all over the place today, and it angers me greatly. This is the same exact MORONIC line of thinking that has allowed society to fester. Everyone wants the easy answer and a scapegoat so they can get back to Tweeting and posting on Facebook without delay. How about we focus on the real problem, which is moral decay in society. People have gotten so used to finger pointing and having no accountability, that they resort to blaming inanimate objects. How sad...

No amount of laws, gun control, or otherwise, can fix stupid...
