My state and locality seems to be going whacko. I used to have family in this area.
Kanawha Co. Deputies respond to domestic call, man beating his mother and when confronted by the LEO's he shot at them without saying anything.
They took up defensive position and killed the guy.
I "suspect" the guy was drunk or high on drugs. These are usually the types that engage in this sad behaviour.

When I lived in Spokane, WA, the police chief there had a shoot first, ask questions later unwritten policy. The last thing a BG wanted to do was test that policy because those who did lost. The city was safe--as any city can reasonably be--but after he left the drugs took over. It's sad to see such a family-orientated place fall prey to crime like that.
Any guy who beats on his mother probably has it coming.
That's wild. My dad's side of the family is all from the elk river/pinch area. Didn't expect to see something so close to home on this forum :\
