Now THATS funny right there. Also the "authorities" were lamenting that "it was perfectly legal" for these people to do so. Get it....LEGAL. I love it.

The gun "buy back" by the Gov't=dismal failure

The gun "buy back" by law abiding citizens=succsessful.

All those "evil bad guns" are now in the hands of some nicer people probably.

I would certainly buy any ammo someone was selling.

What took so long for this to happen? It only makes sense. I can get $100 from the cops or $200 from buyer. D'oh! I wonder how many BGs figured this out already?

    Awesome!

We need to see more of this at those gun buy-back events.

I'm thinking of doing that if they have a buy-back here.

I've said it before on this (on another forum) that all it proves is that the participation in such programs isn't because people want to get "guns off the streets" it is because they need/want some extra cash.

Ie: More proof that such programs don't do anything useful.

It's sad and really unbelievable that so many people are willing to disarm themselves for $100 or $200 worth of gift cards. Not to mention these guns are almost all worth considerably more than that!

Not necessarily. I have a shotgun and a pistol I'd happily trade in for $200-$400. I'll take neither of them to the range, nor will I trust either of them for self-defense. However, I'd trust the used .38 special I could buy as a backup weapon, or the shotgun for home defense.

My guess, is that most of these people have probably not fired their weapon in 10, 20, 30 years. It's also probably sitting in a close somewhere without any kind of protection. So they aren't really "disarming" themselves, because I'll almost guarantee you that they also don't have rounds sitting around the house for those weapons in most cases, and if they did, they wouldn't even know how to use it.

Case in point, I know someone that has probably 30 handguns and 7 shotguns in their house. Even has rounds for them. It's all worthless because the person that actually bought them is no longer in the picture. The remaining occupant(s) are, in reality, just as disarmed as those who have no weapons at all.
