The media would think that the coach's gun on a school campus would put people in danger, and it did...for two dirtbags.

Coach protects two players on girls basketball team from armed robbers

That is how the headline SHOULD have read, but instead it was:

"Two shot, one killed outside high school", "Mother of teen says her son didn't own a gun" (yeah, right), "Warrant package submitted for coach who shot teen", "Coach shoots two teens, one dead" (I kid you not), "Did 70 yr old coach use excessive force in shootings?" (gimme a break) and "Prosecuters weigh charges in shooting outside high school".

This coach is a reserve police officer for the DPD. And therefore can legally carry in a GFZ. He was escorting the two teenage players to their vehicle for the expressed purpose of protecting them when two armed teenagers attempted to rob or mug them. One of the local news sources claims this was caught on video. It appears to be an open and shut case, but ya' never know.

Gee, I wonder what I would've done? (tongue in cheek)

Now if we could get a Reserve police officer in every school maybe the WH would leave our guns alone..

I read this in another forum. You won't see this too much in the madia. The antis can't get a lot of mileage out of it unless they distort the facts (we all know they would never do that.) Right.

Here's a follow-up in case anyone is interested:

"The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office will not charge the basketball coach with any crime. This case is a textbook example of lawful self-defense."

They went on to say the coach was a victim.

About as good an outcome as can be expected.

You want to attempt to threaten murder of innocents? Then you earn every ounce of resistance by all upstanding citizens against that threat, no matter what it costs you ... even if it kills you. Damn straight, on that score.

The "good boy" was caught being quite bad, threatening murder of innocents unless he got his way. The innocents refused, erasing the threat to the best of their ability; though, now they'll each need to live with the fact that they've played a part in a young person no longer being capable of pursuing a life worth living. Hopefully they'll each be able to see and accept that he'd made his choices, however abjectly bad and stupid those choices were. His fault, not theirs.

Suck it up momma. "Junior's" on a different path now; like as not, he was on that path for awhile. He did it to himself.

Kudos to the DA for seeing the truth and acting accordingly.

I guess the preps thought that most old guys, like the coach, were to old to fight but failed to realize that they are not too old to shoot and would not hesitate to do so as proven in this incident.

A bit more detail in this report. It's good to know that the DA's office made the correct decision not to prosecute.

This will be the last related follow up article that I'll post for this thread. It's all good. I'm going to assume that this story will conclude with a happy ending, which is this 15 yr old "adult" will spend some "hard" time in prison with some not-so-friendly criminals who will welcome him with open arms...so to speak.
