I read his book when it first came out. Very sad to hear of his passing in such a senseless way. This man made huge sacrifices for his country and family. He deserved better.
I knew folks from that team but not Chris. I set up a trhead for folks to air their theories on the incident and hopefully they will put all that non sense in that thread instead of this one. RIP Chris.
I apologize for injecting my AAR of an incident I didn't witness on a page that should be limited to paying much due respect to a fallen hero.
I'm not hijacking this thread. I'm not the ones who are discussing whether it was wise or not for Chris to take people with PTSD to a shooting range, but I'm going to respond.
None of us here are psychiatrists... to my knowledge.
What I do know is that there are varying degrees of PTSD. Also, not every form or diagnosis of mental illness is an automatic disqualifier to being around or owning firearms. If that were the case, very few people would be allowed to have firearms.
Anyone here have a fear of heights? It's a phobia, and a phobia is a mental disorder. I've known people who get absolutely violent if you try to force them into a glass elevator that is so popular at some big hotels and casinos. Opps, there's that pesky "violent tendency" raising it's ugly head.
Do you smoke? Obama still does. Are you considered by your doctor to be addicted to nicotine? To my knowledge, addiction is still codified as a form of mental illness.
If I were you, I'd be less concerned about Chris Kyle's attempt at helping victims of PTSD and be just a little more concerned about what you discuss with your own doctor. Now that Obamacare is law of the land and the government is entitled to every scrap of information you discuss with your doctor. Whether you feel it's on the record or off the record, I can bet a lot of people someday, are going to get a visit from some government agency way down the road, saying you are no longer fit to own guns because of what you've discussed with your doctor.
Everyone was warned that Obamacare was a back door way of gaining control over every aspect of people's lives, all under the guise of "public health." Think we were kidding? Well sit back and watch over the next few years and see how Obamacare ends up having a negative effect on Your Life.
Oh, and when I said, not every form or diagnosis of mental illness is an automatic disqualifier to be around or own guns? Well, we'll see how that plays out under Obamacare. It has yet to be determined just how far they will go with using Obamacare as part of their gun grab scheme.
I hope this does more than raise a few eyebrows. But really, it's too late. We got us some Obamacare in the house now, and we're stuck with it.
His book was incredible, and his life must have been even more so. Prayers to an American Hero and his family. RIP.
I shoot with a guy that has documented PTSD,he also received a Purple Heart in A-Stan,I feel totally safe around the guy,His PTSD has more to do with when he falls asleep and his subconscious starts reliving some of his experiences.
Condolences to his Family. It's always a sad day when we lose one of our best.
My condolences to both the Kyle and Littlefield families. Sounds like we lost another two good men.
How can you say this which implies good judgement:
One thing is for certain, Chris Kyle's judgement is not to be blamed and should not be called into question.

Such a shame, survive four combat tours and to die at home. RIP Chief.
I've been saying all along that his judgement should not be to blame. That's been the point of all my posts. I see how you could read it that way now that I reread it with a clear head. I was more than a little pissed when I posted and should have proof read. I was typing faster than my brain could keep up.
To clarify, I should have said, I'm sure that Chris did not see any indication of violent behavior, otherwise he never would have handed him a loaded firearm.
I'm going to edit that post now.
