Sounds like the reporter got right. Don't see where you have a problem with it.
Does seem heavily slanted toward the "combat" scenerio. And Seabees as a "special" naval construction unit? How about "the" naval construction unit. And I don't what the drones overhead is all about when the LEOs could walk right up to the bunker door. The drones I worked with were far too high for anyone to realize they were overhead.
Just more yellow journalism and sensationalism.
I don’t have any children but if I did and if they were in a similar situation I too would want all available resources used.
Pehaps what the OP is reading into this story is the over use of Military style tactics.
It could be misconstrued as a glimpse of things to come should someone in favour of gun rights be the target instead of the guy with the problems holed up with a hostage. I think also the implication of "practice" for when the confiscation of our guns will begin and maybe it is thought this is how it will go down.
I don't know, I am grasping at straws but it does seem to be an excessive use of force, but they needed to rescue this kid from someone with obvious problems. Maybe such a show of force will make others planning such a thing to maybe reconsider and this can be said it was a deterrent.
