Highland woman shoots intruder...
...in her sister's home. Once, in the back, according to the shooter... but the article says the thug is recovering from multiple gunshot wounds...

That woman was really lucky. I use the term "lucky" because without self defense training and very little thought given to tactics....she was the winner. Basically she knew where to get the gun and what end to point at the BG. (and it was a .22 on top of it)
This should be another lesson to BG that the disabled, elderly, women and others are not helpless prey, but those types never learn. A BG should NEVER know his prey is able to defend themselves. Let it be a huge surprise.....BOOM!
A woman must not depend on protection by men. A woman must learn to protect herself.

A second version of the same story with a video interview. Looks like the basis of the OP's story

Amazing that it only took one or two shots to make the guy roll over and cry uncle.
They were lucky.
Somebody better get them a BUG, cause the police have the .22 now.
Also, they should have shut up about where she stashes the pistol.

This dirtbag broke in and started strangling that poor woman?
The sister needs to learn more about 'head shots'...the dirtbag should have needed the coroner's van, not an ambulance.

Someone with some extra bigger-caliber handguns should donate one to her.

Gang, she could be in deep doodoo now! In case you don't know it, the incident took place in Highland, ILLINOIS.
I sure hope she has her FOID card for that pistol.

You only need a FOID card to buy and own a gun - not to shoot on that belongs to someone else. Weird but true.

Pay close attention. It's things like this, which turn an otherwise justifiable shooting into an involuntary manslaughter conviction.
If the guy dies as a result in this unintended warning shot, (or even if he doesn't die)... all of a sudden it becomes a case of negligence. Even if it doesn't effect a criminal case, it plays hugely in a civil case.
Keeney says she then fired what she thought was a warning shot.
These are the kinds of statements detectives and prosecutors pick-up on. If the mood suits them, or there's anything else "hinky" in the story and a person gets charged with manslaughter.
Not saying anything like that will happen in this case. Or, even should happen. But it has happened in other cases.

Does a 5 shot deringer fire all shots at once? Waste them all as warning shot. News should do better thatn to print where she keeps it.
