There are a few rough spots in that area. It's on the other side of town from where I live. I've got family over there in one of the rough spots though. IIRC it happened at 9 am. Any time. Glad it worked out for him. The interview I saw of the homeowner showed him on his front porch holding a shop vac and cleaning up. That's hardcore.

Glad the homeowner had fairly ready access to his .38. With all of the debates we see about caliber, weapon choice, etc. this is a perfect example of a .38 in hand beats whatever else he may have had locked up in a safe or otherwise not readily available.
My wife and I grew up just outside of Hickory and still have a lot of family there. Hopefully the rest of the Bad Guy element of the community will get the message "The door you kick in just may be your last."

Just goes to show, the more guns we have in the hands of law abiding citizens, the better we all are. If the politicians had their way, we would have to cower in fear in our own homes while being tied to a chair, beaten, raped and robbed. No thanks. I will take care of myself.

Been hearing a lot of home invasions lately more so then I recall. Therefore I have gun at the ready all the time. It is natural to me now and comfortable, no reason not to. Good for the home owner, bad for bad guy. I guess these bad guys are praying for a weapons ban..

If it turns out to be a justified shoot then more power to the home owner but there seems to be an undercurrent to this one that may point otherwise.

I even have 3 smoke detectors and 4 fire extinguishers in my house too! All ready to use!
My cell phone is all charged up before I head for the sack!
But I'm not paranoid, just prepared for anything!
My doors are locked, my way of telling the Bad Guys they are not welcome here!
I am in my Castle and ready to defend!
