.....The homeowner gave the intruder several commands to get on the ground but the intruder refused to comply. The intruder made a move towards another family member and the homeowner shot him in the leg, Taylor said.
My Comments: Article states that the homeowner checked to make sure that all of the family members were accounted for, first. Good!

Lubbock is where I spent my college years at Texas Tech University. My brother and his family still live there. Good people. Good result.
Cheers

Relatively good outcome I think. I hope the reason the home owner shot the bad guy in the leg is that he missed. I certainly hope he was aiming for center mass.

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing that maybe the home owner needs some range time.

Well given ammo prices he might wanna practice with either an Airsoft or Air Rifle in that specific weapon.

Police found Olivares’ wallet and empty beer cans inside the truck. Taylor said police aren’t certain if Olivares was under the influence of anything else.
Well, he is under the influence of 'lead', but apparently too small a dose to solve his problem.
Glad the home owner and his family are fine!

The media didn't give out the homeowners name or address either... I like that.
Bravo Zulu to the homeowner for taking care of bidness!

The so called "burglar" left his vehicle too far away to load any loot into. Perhaps he had something else in mind. This homeowner may have saved his family from something worse than loss of property.

Criminals need to read the Memo!
In Texas we will shoot you if you break into our houses!
You do not have to be armed to get a hot lead welcome either!
And we will do it with regularity!
It's considered a good thing here in Texas!
Should you want a long Criminal Career, choose a Blue State to make your living!
Like New York, or New Jersey.
We like our Gun Freedoms so much here that we are going to have a Tax Free Gun Buying Day on the Anniversary of Texas Independance.
Don't like it, don't move here!
There are other States that will hold your hand and sing Kume Ba Ya with you.
We kill and eat Rattlesnakes here for Fun!
What have you done to prepare for the end of civilization as we know it?
