Sounds like the intruder beat a hasty retreat. Perhaps too quickly for the home owner to get a clean shot.

It says the suspect then ran out the same door and the homeowner shot him...
I have a problem with shooting at someone running away...
Unless he shot first then the suspect ran away, it could have been a bad outcome for the homeowner if his shot hit where he was aiming.

Every now and then Mrs. Whec boots me outta bed in the middle of the night for snoring.

She thinks I'm paranoid for stopping by the gun safe on my way to the guest bedroom downstairs. The guest bedroom is the only one that doesn't have a quick-access firearm, and I'll be danged if I'm gonna be caught condition white in my own home.

Just the day before in Tulsa, OK a man who was a CCW heard cries for help and shot and killed a pit bull who was attacking two ladies in a yard. The owner gave him permission to shoot. She had been trying to get the dog off the victims with a baseball bat. Story is on FOX 23 in Tulsa OK.
