tragic: viscious dog stopped by CCW holder

Another member pointed out this story in my thread about the Tulsa Homeowner who needed more range time.

CCW holder, a block away, heard woman screaming... got into his truck and drove to the scene of a pitbull attacking two women... the homeowner was trying to stop the attack with a baseball bat...

The CCW holder asked permission from the dog owner/homeowner to shoot the dog.

I wouldn't have waited for the permission.

    Story here

Sometimes, a good guy with a gun can stop things other than bad guys with guns...

I wasn't there to see what was happening, but I don't feel I have to ask permission to save a life.

...perhaps he was just respecting the dogowners' unspoken wishes and being a better human being for doing so...

...as for me, I'd'a shot the mutt, too!!!

"He says he went to the opening gate and shook it. "

Did this occur in a fenced in yard?

That was some SERIOUS BAD dog bite injury. Absolutely that dog needed to be shut down and pronto. That animal was a potential killer had it not been stopped.

Looking at the pictures and or video, yes. But the dog, I believe, started out in the house... Can't confirm that, though.

According to the police officer who responded (in the video), the pit burst through the door and attacked them. So, I would assume that the dog was inside.

Here's the link to the interview with the permit holder:

And what do you know? Michael, the permit holder, used to be a school teacher. I wonder what he would say if we asked him how Sandy Hook might have been stopped?

For years I've made the link between breed specific legislation and gun rights and no one gave a damn. The government tells you a certain breed of dog is bad and now you can't own them. Now the government is saying semi auto firearms are bad and states are starting to pass laws (CO just recently and the mag ban).

It's the slippery slope! People just don't get it you let them take away your rights and now you have NY banning Soda's over so many ounces.

It's not the breed its the BAD OWNERS. Same as guns.

I feel like gun owners and pit bulls have a lot in common as far as main stream media is concerned

The only real tragic thing was that the dog didn't get put down sooner.

Bad, yes, that injuries were sustained by the victim. Hopefully she won't have life-long debilitating impacts.

Kudos to the "good sam" for doing what was necessary, to help the life of another.

Sorry, I've never heard a gun owner say, "It was really a good gun, it was never trained to do that. It was a great gun, never hurt anyone."

I have heard it said about people.... who act criminally... and pit bulls who have maimed someone... But I've never heard it about said about a firearm.

I don't have a sign in my window that says "beware of gun" I know my gun won't barge through the door and viciously attack little old ladies giving away the Watchtower.
