I hope the gun owner is NOT charged for shooting the perp. According to the news report the perp was leaving when citizen shot the perp. I found it interesting the news story didn't have the usual anti gun sentiment.

I'm a little concerned about the fact he was leaving but it really doesn't say where he was in relation to the door.

Well, all that matters is where the dirtbag was in relationship to the bullet...sound like he was off by about a foot.
He'll live to rob again...already did three that day.

Always be wary of the feigned retreat. If you are really concerned about the whole shooting a retreating bad guy issue, which we should all be, you really need to think about how you will deal with the bad buy going around a corner, then back at you, behind you, and a hundred other retreat tricks. Follow them if you can, but if you lose sight of them, get in a spot that gives you an advantage.

Dealing with a retreat is one of the most dangerous tactical issues a person will ever face. Personally, unless there is some strong indicator of a genuine retreat, I would take the chance. I would rather be in trouble than not be around for my girls.

I can never tell people enough how dangerous retreats are.

Of course, do not forget you can feign a retreat too. It takes some quick thinking, but it is a good way to give yourself a chance if you are in a bad spot.

I definitely could see a ticket for littering if the shooter didn't police up his empty brass.

Any scumbag who is retreating while armed with a gun is fair game. He can turn kill you in a few seconds.

Too bad the perp is still wasting our oxygen. However, considering the situation, our hero with the pistol was just doing what we all say needs done, protecting his family and teaching this thug a lesson.

However, I love this sarcastic comment from the comment section of the article.

Another trigger happy, pistol carrying, right-wing lunatic shooting an O***a DemocRAT. When will this craziness end? If a guy can't rob a Burger King without getting shot, he might as well get a real job. It is time to disarm hard working Americans. No robber should have to worry about being shot, while he is trying to make a dishonest living.
Maybe Junior should have gotten a REAL job,eh?

I'm more concerned about the health risks of the stuff they call food than any bandit.
