Woman shoots at suspects breaking into Tempe home

TEMPE, AZ - Police say a resident fired shots at two suspects who broke into a Tempe home on Thursday.
Tempe police spokesman Mike Pooley said a woman heard a knock at the door of her home near McClintock Drive and Guadalupe Road and thought it sounded odd.
Pooley said she went to the garage for a gun and by the time she got back two people were in her home.
She shot at both of them, but it's unclear if either one was struck, Pooley said.
Pooley said two suspects are in custody and two more got away.
The suspects are described as black males and Pooley said police are looking for a black Chrysler 300 with Alberta license plates.
Pooley said this home invasion is related to another robbery earlier today. He said this is a growing trend in which a suspect knocks on the door and if no one answers they break down the door.

She did well, with four perps involved. Could have ended much differently, had just a few differences happened (ie, if she'd been unarmed, if her gun had been elsewhere or unloaded, if they'd come in quickly/violently, or if they'd come out blasting).

    Kudos on stopping the crime.

Glad she had time to go to the garage and get her gun.

    She was lucky.

Good example of how important it is to have the active-duty weaponry out and available, if not on us.

I would like to know what type gun she grabbed and if she was out of ammo or bad guys when she stopped at 2 shots.

I hope she was out of BG's because they ran away and learned their lesson.

Good for her in defense of her home and property.

Not all shooting scenarios end up with the criminals perforated by gunfire. They need to count themselves lucky she didn't. But, they won't and the next "victim" they find might drop them all with a dozen center mass and "end" their burglary careers.

A growing trend, eh? Another growing trend is that the "injustice system" does very little to these dirtbags and they get right out again and continue their work.

No more repeat offenders...either decades here, or a permanent place here

What? She could have scared them away by peeing or grabbing scissors... She did not require a gun! (please note severe sarcasm).

I wish I could read more of these happy ending stories..

NONONO she has to pee on the scissors and then......

Anyways, I am sure that I am not the only one that knows people who own guns but keep them locked up all the time. Something to be said for being prepared.

And just to remind all of the "any place, any time" thing - this happened in a "nice" neighborhood in Tempe. Stable area where the homes are kept up, not a questionable area at all.

Relatively happy ending I would say. A happy ending would've had four scumbags DRT!

Yep. That's why as others have said, she shouldn't have had her gun stored in the garage.

But this story brings up another point. The anti freedom crowd wants to limit our magazine capacity to seven rounds. In this case we had four scumbags and one little lady. Had the little old lady been shooting accurately using two or three rounds per scumbag we're looking at 12 rounds right there. Throw in a couple of missed shots and 14 rounds just barely covers it.
