....... “I thought it was a home invasion. I said ‘Baby, get your gun!,” she said, sitting amid friends and relatives gathered at her home to cook and prepare for Sunday’s funeral.

    Resident Fired First

Police say her husband fired first with a sawed-off shotgun and they responded. He was shot at least three times and died later at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

....... “We did the best surveillance we could do, and a mistake was made,” Lebanon Police Chief Billy Weeks said. “It’s a very severe mistake, a costly mistake. It makes us look at our own policies and procedures to make sure this never occurs again.” He said, however, the two policemen were not at fault.

Yes, the two police were not at fault for returning fire when fired upon.

However, there was at least one police officer who was on the scene and in charge of the operation who is completely responsible for this.

You can bet there will be a payout, not that that will make the widow whole.

Wonder what is on the recordings.

This is a nightmare scenario in which everyone loses.

Whoever swore out an affidavit to the Judge in order to get a no knock warrant should be tried for manslaughter. He either outright lied to the Judge or depended on the obviously unverified information from a jail informant. Either way, he is obviously civilly liable and may be criminally liable. That should be up to a jury to decide.

Folks it is getting bad, it is all to often that LEO's invade the wrong house and in most cases the resident of the house pays dearly. It is time to charge the police officer in charge, as in this case, with manslaughter. We charge our soldiers with manslaughter for acts such as this when non combatants are killed or wounded. The officers involved will, if charged, face nothing worse than dismissal from the force with a clean record.....to be allowed to seek employment in a different PD.

A quick google of this headline shows shows more than eight ultra right online "news" sources reporting this as a current event. It's difficult to read any news these days where the facts are the facts. Every source has to analyzed for motive and agenda. We get intentionally misrepresented information from both the right and the left. This article being recirculated as "new" is meant to be inflammatory toward the police. Funny it's being perpetuated by the far right when the far left is also flogging law enforcement claiming the Boston Police and Feds over reacted and used excessive force in the search for and capture of the two bomber brothers.

This is not a right left issue, this is the media trying to cause a reaction to CREATE "news".
Folks, we are getting played on a regular basis. Your "news" organizations are the real problem.
Most people on either side are just people with the same wants and desires. Some (maybe most) of us are too lazy or trusting
to investigate an issue. We take people in authority to mean what they say. be it the anchorman at the local news outlet or
a politician. This is a crisis of education and personal responsibility. Not as much a crisis of ideology.
What can we do to hold the media accountable? (dang I can ramble on in the mornings, hopefully I'm making some sense)

On one thread we honor WWII and then it is wrong to honor a man killed because it was 13 years ago? I don't understand this logic. In my opinion this is what is wrong with us as a whole we have no memory and feel something that happened two years ago is ancient news with no value.

For thirteen years you are still reading about the wrong house and people killed in their own homes. If you learn from history maybe it will not repeat itself.

Instant gratification or it isn't worth fighting for.

makes me sad as an old man.

Not saying that the incident shouldn't spark outrage, but that the story is put out in a misleading way to continue outrage for an incident that has long since been delt with.
The editors that reprinted this story know that many of us will have forgoten the specifics of this case, but that we may still have a recollection of something like this occurring.
By representing it in this manner, they are trying to goad conflict to drum up ratings. THey are hoping that we will see a pattern of behaviour that simply doesn't exist.

News outlets are no longer in the business of informing people. They are in the business of manipulating emotional response and control.

Doesn't matter how long ago, just another example of what we'll see more of when we see more of the Boston foolishness.
