Who is the idiot that brought a knife and baloney to a home invasion? He would totally be kicked off of my home invasion gang if I were in charge.

Wow that's awfully close to me. I'm almost sure that this is drug related. Notice her innocent little face tattoos ?

I was noticing the same thing and thought it was funny the camera only zoomed in on her face once. Most likely not a random incident.

Scary situation, unfortunately I think these things will become more common to hear of. Thanks for posting, looks like this was close to a couple of members here.

Those tattoos were hideous. What ever made her think that was a good idea?

It's unfortunate that the response to the home invasion is "start a neighborhood watch." I'm guessing that the neighbors in that neighborhood are the ones who need to be watched. While that certainly won't hurt, a bedside 1911 would certainly make me feel better about staying there any longer.

She stated she was on the phone with the 911 operator, but as always, the cops were just minutes away and the thugs were gone on their arrival....... She should have done as recommended by Biden, get a shotgun and shoot in the air or just shoot thru the door. Problem solved.

Seems like a lot of class based negative comments about the victims here. I'm sure the mother and her sister would much prefer to live in an upscale gated community, but not everyone can afford that.

It seems to me that all the victims were lucky and handled it the best that they possibly could have given the situation as it occurred; being awakened with a gun to the head. I think there is a good chance that things would not have turned out well if the sister in the other room had access to a gun and had begin firing with three men in the other room with the mother and the child. I am actually surprised that the police were able to arrive at the seen so quickly. Where I live I would expect at least 5-10 minutes, but then I level out in the country from a very small town in north Wisconsin.

It sounds like the criminals were not very sophisticated or bright, and I hope they do spend a long time eating prison fare.

Elfman may be right about the class remarks but I'm not sure how innocent these "victims" were.

Still, nobody deserves to have their home invaded.

The simple fact that the BG's looked inside the babys diaper for cash or drugs tells me the BG's might have thought these women might have been drug dealers (coke, crack, meth). The numerous tattoos on the young mother ( facial tats??...gimme a break ) is another indicator of possible narcotics violations or perhaps I'm just thinking like an LEO now?). In 30 years or less she will regret having facial tats.

I also would hope the cops of this department send a forensics team to print the stolen items and or surfaces in the house. Chances are these home invaders while not too bright already have rap sheets. Much of proper LE deals in working that back trail.

Obviously the cops arrived on scene code 3 minus sirens to the front of the house. Whatever happened to cops hitting both front and back doors simultaneously as we've seen them do countless times while serving felony arrest warrants (TV movies and such) I don't know...not cop bashing mind you but seems somewhat Keystone cop like to me. At least the young women took something useful out of this scary episode. Starting a Neighborhood Watch is definitely an excellent idea. Purchasing a HD weapon such as a 12G pump or 40cal (minimum) with high cap magazine of at least 15R+training would be in my view the next logical step along with starting the Neighborhood Watch Program.

OK I am not a grammar, punctuation or spelling Nazi nor do I portray one on TV or movies. But I saw no less than 5 errors in the print news story accompanying this video. When I worked on my high school newspaper we were to proofread our copy before submitting same. If we were not sure of the way 'something read' we were to have someone else proofread the piece. The writer of this news story clearly does not know the proper use of the words there and their. Just one more excellent example of the dumbing down of America. Before some of you chastise me for this observation this is the fifth time in as many days that I've come across numerous similar errors in print publications. This analogy reminds me of a funny movie I saw once. The locals constantly spouted "electrolytes, it's got electrolytes in it..."
This is exactly where America is headed save for the few who are home schooled and or private schooled and really taught and LEARN THIS STUFF. All that 'No child left behind' bull crap will add to the downfall of our once great country.

I apologize for the Rant like nature of my last paragraph. It seriously irritates my fine sensibilities when I read news stories that appear to have been written by illiterates. By the same token why are illiterarates hired in the first place?? Are we to surmise that America is fairly swamped by HR (Human Resource) grads who are functionally ILLITERATE???

Wel done, NN. I can't even read the local paper, the Memphis Commical Appeal. It is so poorly written and not proofread at all.

Pushed that freezer out of the way to get in the house. I haven't slept that soundly in years. Maybe a small dog along with a neighborhood watch would be a better choice than a 1911 since she was awakened by the gun on her neck.
I know its not always the case but a lot of those old neighborhoods like that could benefit from a neighborhood watch. Yes there is a higher incidence of criminal activity but most of the time there are older citizens that are stuck there because they can't sell for enough to buy a home elsewhere. Atlanta has a lot of older neighborhoods that are coming back because the residents simply said enough is enough and started reporting crime rather than not seeing because they were afraid to say it was the neighbors "no count" son that broke in the house next door or stole their social security.
People have begun to realize that they are responsible for their situation; something that members of this forum realized long ago.

Thankyou kindly for the High Five LR. Reading your response to my 'Rant' gave me pause to a memory from the last time I took a course from my local 2 year college. Something in my application sounded alarm bells in the Registration Office. They concluded that I must take an English class along with my course of study otherwise I would not be allowed to take the courses I was signing up for. Needless to say I was upset but there again it was required so I sucked it up and followed the directions and yada yada yada...

Here is where it got interesting. On the first day of my English class I made a comment to my instructor. Her answer to me in part was I was being anal or that I was anal. Having just been called 'anal' got my dander up like you wouldn't believe!!! First thoughts were to walk up to her and cold cock her...basically punch her lights out. Of course tho as a law abiding citizen this was out of the question. OTOH there was no way Hosea I was gonna let her get away with saying I was anal. I was seriously fuming. She might not have been able to see it but smoke was coming out of my ears.

Here's the funny thing. At the time she had made this comment to me tho I did not know it at the time she had complimented me. You see to be referred to as anal (in my area) it is another way to say one is highly detail oriented and something of a perfectionist. Just the same she would do well to choose her words more carefully in the future...calling a bonifide Redneck 'anal' is an excellent way to find oneself on the receiving end of a serious pummeling of an extremely agitated man with a poor command of the English language such as I. In fact 3 days later when I caught up with her at her office I told her she might want to re-think her choice of words when chatting with a Redneck or she may in the future find herself on the receiving end of a fat lip and some knocked out teeth as many Rednecks react first rather than thinking things through.

And there is my little story of how I got my come uppance with a university educated morphrodite. Y'all can bet on one thing to be sure. When I'm yakkin' with other folks who are like me I do not tell them at some point that I think they are anal. Mainly cuz based on my hearing it aimed at me just one time and my initial reaction I've grown rather fond of the few teeth I have left. And brothers and sisters here let me tell you... I mean to keep 'em.

While I was writing this one piece I came across and corrected no less than 12 errors. Aincha all glad I know how to proofread??

My comment on the grammar part of the post is that while the professionals should proofread and take care to properly structure their sentences and paragraphs: I tend to try to make my posts read more like we are talking together over a cup of coffee. I see all sorts of mistakes and I do tend to try to correct the hideous ones; we are all friends here and I for one enjoy the personal character I see in most posts.
