Interesting take on the matter: Boston Globe: Witnesses suggest friendly fire felled MBTA officer

In such a tense situation (in the dark), I wouldn't rule out friendly fire either.

The problem is most LEO's have a problem qualifying on a stationary B27 target, now you got them firing shots at a fleeing vehicle,I just wonder how many houses sustained hits from missed rounds. If any of us wounded or killed somebody during a SD shooting or struck any houses they would throw the book at us,

Sounds like a friendly fire incident. My question is why the gal that saw this was not behind cover. Curiosity killed the cat - luckily, she survived unscathed.

Lots of rounds expended. Anybody know if Boston uses New York triggers?

It should be easy to tell by running ballistics on the round(s) taken from the wounded officer.
