Yeah, they probably will. But this is clearly a mental health issue. Anybody driving around at 2:15 am with no headlights who gets out of their car and opens fire is obviously loony. We need more info on the guy's background. Did he obtain the gun legally? Was he prohibited from owning firearms?

Lots of questions yet to be answered. Good shooting by the cop, though. Kudos to him.

So a guy with an AR15 was stopped by a guy with a pistol? So know it can be done! Someone needs to alert the press.

So what have we learned here today people. Could it be: It is the operator that has the lethal capability not the object?

And in this encounter the good guy with a gun stopped the bad guy with a gun. Gee, imagine that.
    Bitter clinger!

He had a "criminal history" so in all likelihood he was prohibited from firearm ownership. Does not fit their narrative.

He must have purchased it using one of those "gun show loopholes".

AR15 vs a Glock 17? Sounds like a fair fight to me.

...just goes to show that aimed gun fire from a pistol trumps the typical thug spray and pray from an AR15 all day long.

Wait, are you telling me that the guy with a criminal history didn't turn in his massively unnecessary capacity magazines when they became illegal? That can't be. This must just be bad reporting.

Glad the officer kept his head and his life. I wonder why he didn't just hit the gas though?

Goes to show what a well trained good guy with a gun can do event against somebody who outguns him/her.

I Guarantee you it was a LEGAL weapon, at some point...He was a parolee, probationer, or at least a previous offender, who should not have had access to guns through legal means... But he had 'em. And used at least one illegally.

Now who would have thought someone with prior criminal history would use an AR-15 possibly illegally obtained to attempt to assault an LEO. Proof positive we do not have enough gun control laws and must immediately enact even more restrictions on guns and massive capacity magazines. [/Sarcasm]
