I think this is an older story and it's also in England. I am totally surprised the old gent was not arrested for assault considering how the Brits love their bloody criminals. Still though, it has a good outcome, thankfully. Knife wielding thug who unknowingly assaulted a guy who knew how to fight while unarmed. It could have been worse.

Here in the states, the intruder may have run across someone with a gun and there would have been a death sentence instead of just 4 measly years in jail.

So folks are well "armed" with just their arms.

The only problem is that it seems to have happened in the UK. Given the legal climate there, I'm surprised that the homeowner wasn't charged with assault for using excessive force. After all, he only would have been cut a little bit by the thug, and the police wouldn't have taken more than fifteen or twenty minutes to respond.

Hey....wait....this can't be a real story. There are knife control laws in the UK. They passed legistlation in 1953, 1959, 1988, 1996, 1997. It is currently illegal to carry a folding pocket knife with a three inch blade that locks in place in the UK....SURELY that means that knives are no longer used in violent crimes in the UK.

Too bad the retired boxer didn't make that maggot eat his own knife.

Well, well. A judge in the U.K. actually judging violent crime as criminal, and refusing to attempt justifying any claim that the victim (defender) was to blame in any way, shape or form. At least some sanity is returning, apparently.

"Aggravated burglary," though? He came at the guy with a knife with manifest intent to kill. Why in the name of all the saints wasn't the charge Attempted Murder?? And they wonder why these cretins laugh at "the law" and just keep doing what they do. Knife laws didn't stop the felon; he just ignored that ban. Murder/robbery laws didn't stop the felon; he tried it anyway, believing full well he'd get a slap on the wrist and the person attempting to stop him would get jailed for the attempt.
